We all have seen The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and it began with the older Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) and Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) visiting him. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) also begins with the older Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) and Elijah Wood (Frodo) making an appearance. But, now Bilbo begins to write his story about his own adventure and how he came to be the owner of the special gold ring before Frodo. Martin Freeman as the younger "Bilbo Baggins". Ian McKellen returns as the wizard "Gandalf", Hugo Weaving as "Elrond", Christopher Lee as "Saruman", Andy Serkis as "Gollum". This movie is currently available in 3 formats: IMAX, 48 Frames -HFR (High Frame Rate) with reaL D)) 3D, and standard format. The movie starts with a wild motorcycle chase between Patrice (Ola Rapace) and James Bond (Daniel Craig) in Istanbul, Turkey. With Agent Eve (Naomi Harris) driving a Land Rover trying to keep up with Bond, the chase continues on top of a train with Patrice and Bond fighting. Eve out of the automobile, tries to line up a rifle on target to shoot Patrice, but Patrice and Bond are too close to each other The train is headed towards the tunnel. M orders Eve to shoot. Eve shoots and James Bond falls off the train way down into the water below. We are then treated to the new James Bond theme song, "Skyfall" by Adele. The opening credits sequence is the best I have seen in years, but I wish it was more continuous without so many cuts. Javier Bardem plays the first gay villain in a James Bond movie. Many surprises in this movie, including a new Q and new Miss Moneypenny. This was my first movie watching it in the IMAX Experience. Sound was too loud. ...(read more)
