Moderately amusing, somewhat formulaic comedy, that is very heavy on gratuitous profanity. Plot
has to do with two aging former members of a singing trio, The Real Deal, reminiscent in style of such soul groups from the late 60's and early 70's as The Four Tops and The Spinners, who are driving from L.A. to N.Y.C. to perform at a memorial service at Harlem's Apollo Theater for their erstwhile lead singer, who, after having abandoned them some years before for a solo career, has died. A subplot has to do with the daughter of one of these has-beens, who doesn't know that the has-been is her father, and who has hooked herself up with an abusive, drug-dealing twerp. On the way, our two protagonists get involved in various difficulties, to which they respond in risibly maladaptive ways, and, as I said, with more salty language than is likely to be tolerated by those who profess a lot of concern for "family values." I could have walked out of this movie with no great sense of loss.
