Anna Netrebko-lovely as always but not very interesing...It never went to the nasty-space, I felt
like it stayed safe the whole time. Also, Jane Seymour's character motivation choices were less interesting to me.
this is how wagner saw his opera being done: extraordinary singing, fabulous acting, incredible
performing and MIND-BLOWING sets!!!!! I cried through the ending, laughed at jonas's slobber and bryn terfel's sweat, and I was disgusted/moved by incest...............
The show started half an hour late, and honestly 5+ hours will probably be too much for anyone new to opera. However if you enjoy live, glorious opera, see Die Walkure!!!!
I LOVED it!!!! however, this is not for someone new to opera. 3 hours without a intermission? no
action plot? 5 people singing at once? (the subtitles can't keep up with every word spoken)
if you love opera--this is a poignant, moving story abounding with irony and subtleties. The question is posed: which is superior--music or words? NOTE: Renee Fleming is not my favorite opera star. her german is not as clear as other singers.
The Metropolitan Opera: Die...
The Metropolitan Opera: Don...
