I've been a music fan for literally almost as long as I can remember. (I learned to play organ &
read music when I was 4. I couldn't even read the names of the songs I was playing, but I could play them...so, when I say music is in my soul, I mean it.) The first musical I ever saw was West Side Story...and it's been my favorite ever since the first time I saw it. But seeing Memphis changed that. The cast was absolutely wonderful! There was a ton of humor, which, given the subject matter, I hadn't expected. But mostly: I have long been in awe of David Bryan's musical talent, but the music he wrote for this production totally blew me away. I've never wanted to jump out of my seat & dance at a musical. NEVER. Until Thursday night. I guess the best way to sum it up is to say that one of the songs in the show sums it up perfectly: "It broke down all my senses, It made me feel so home. See I was lost until I found, I was deaf until I heard The music of my soul"
