I did not know much about the story line, mainly went because I wanted to see/hear Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe sing. I was blown away - not only by Anne Hathaway's voice - but the overall grand scale of everything on screen. It truly gave me the same feeling as seeing GWTW on screen the first time. Russell Crowe held his own vocally, and of course Hugh Jackman is an accomplished singer. All performances were spot on - not a weak one in the bunch. This was a feel good, fun time movie. Lots of laughs and a couple of touching moments. There are some really nice arrangements of current pop songs - they are well done. It reminded me of Glee in a college atmosphere but you don't have to be a Gleek to to like this movie, Mostly its a great way to spend a couple of hours getting away from your life and becoming a part of the acapella life in college. yes, there were some stunning scenery images - not enough though - but then it turned into a bizarre trip to Chinese manufacturing plants and slaughterhouses. what was the connection between these? ya got me. then there was a bizarre sequence of some guy putting mud/clay all over his face along with black and red paint. huh? There was no message to the movie and what started out as a homage to beautiful and sacred places turned in to a mess. An hour and 1/2 of my life I'll never get back. ...(read more)
