I love this movie for many reasons, but the first one is that is brings the reality of addiction
and all its inconsistencies to the screen in a way that isn't apologetic, morbid or whiney. Jonothan Demme's uise of the camera is especially effective for making the audience a part of the story. In real families, there is no protagonist and Anne Hathaway's character combines with all the other characters in way that makes me believe they could be a real family. Its also good to see Debra Winger on the sceen again.
I have loved everything that James McAvoy has done and this is no exception. He and Angelina Jolie
are a good pair in this adventure rendering of the prophecy-fate concept. Morgan Freeman is again playing the god archetype....he's good, but is always "Morgan Freeman". Lots of blood and violence - definitely not something for kids.
