There are some peculiar compressions of the storyline, but those included are very true to the book. And Lawrence really shines as Katniss. Harrelson seemed miscast - in fact, most of the outside talent (Kravitz) included seemed fairly wooden. This might be a directorial miscue. The action portions inside the Games work far better. The handheld camera decision was also a bad one - imagine it on an IMAX screen. Still, well-composed shots establishing the whole of the Games world would have been far more effective than POV hand-helds. But, overall, the performance from Lawrence and the delivery of the sections of the story that they chose to tell wins out over the weakness. It's not a great film, but it's quite good.
