As expected this movie has you squirming in your movie chair looking for a seatbelt. The destruction and demise of a character is often the most difficult type of movie to watch, especially when Denzel Washington is the one who is fighting the addiction and abuse of drugs and alcohol. As always, Denzel’s acting is superb. At this point you have to wonder if there is any role he CAN’T play? The storyline was gripping but the movie missed the mark. The elements of comedy that were infused into a tragic/suspenseful movie interrupted the flow and brought little to nothing additional out of the main characters. Based on a true story. Some of the loveliest words you’ll read at the beginning of a movie. Ben Affleck has pulled back the curtain to some of the darkest times in our US history to shed a little light on how in 1979 the US government got our American diplomats out of Iran during the hostage crisis that lasted 444 days. This movie is awesome. You’ll be leaning out of your chair almost the entire time. Following the career highs and the lows of Ben Affleck has been a pendulum to say the least. He now finds himself in the sweet spot of his life and career, the maturity that all men reach at a certain time in their life where one can look forward and backwards and know how he wants to be remembered. Ben Affleck is cruising in the right direction. Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and now Argo. Every movie he directs keeps getting better and better.
