As I'm sure you know by now, "The Beaver" is about a father, Mel Gibson, who suffers from insanity,
and finds a solution in a beaver puppet he discovers in a dumpster. You should at least know this much going into the film. After that, the movie takes a few twists and turns, becomes a bit disturbing, and ultimately leaves you reeling, with a sort of "WTF" feeling. Overall, I'm pretty sure I enjoyed it, though I don't know that I'd go see it again. Mel Gibson gave a brilliant performance. Unfortunately, the film didn't have the overall happy ending that most people would hope for. (That's not a spoiler, just a general feeling. I didn't leave the theater feeling happy, or fully satisfied). I would recommend seeing the film just to form your opinions. My opinion? I *think* I liked it - it kept me entertained, and I appreciated the acting, and the story was new and interesting. Though I'm pretty sure if I ever come into contact with a beaver puppet, I'll flee the scene.
