This show was amazing and I am anxiously awaiting its TV debut. I am a huge fan of Mara Brock Akil
and Salim Akil's work so I knew this show was going to be a winner. I loved it because I identified with Mary Jane as a young African American woman searching for herself; however, so did my Caucasian best friend. The point of this show seems to be that we as women struggle. We don't always pick the right men, we don't always fall into our dream careers, and we can't reassign roles within our family but we face all of these struggles together. At the end of the show I turned to my best friend and whispered "OMG, I am Mary Jane!" and she replied "Tell me about it, Who isn't Mary Jane".
PS. Gabrielle Union always portrays the quintessential "Universal" African American woman and her acting does not disappoint in this show. She is fantastic. More Gabby please?
