I found that Good Hair was better than I expected. I was unsure of how deep Chris Rock would go in
exploring the history and impact of hair as it relates to Black women. After all, his wife wears fake hair and that is the first place he should have gone when his daughter supposedly asked why she didn't have good hair. Her direct influence is a woman who piles on ounces of fake hair, clearly discontent with her own natural tresses. I was, however, glad to see that he explored the harmful effects being dissatisfied with one's own natural hair can have on one's body and overall life. He interviewed various celebrities and my main criticism is that he could have had more people speaking on behalf of Black women who wear their hair natural (without relaxers or weaves). He had one person speaking versus like 10-12 for the "other" side. I did like that he interviewed a scientist who showed just how horrible the chemicals in relaxers are. Overall, worth seeing, a solid movie.
