A beautifully simple, yet complex, story from the pages of Tolkein's beloved book has been betrayed
by the monster-slashing emotion-grinding paint-job that film giants use to draw the public who they must think are brainless keep-ME-from-being-bored dim-wits. Yes, Tolkein's Trilogy was epic & the movie adaptations appropriately so, but the simple story of Tolkein's book, the Hobbit, was absent, let alone cut into THREE movies that drip of box-office greed. On a positive note, the Gollum scene was a diamond in the rough, containing a beautiful balance of tension and humor. Bravo to the Gollum artists. Martin Freeman (young Bilbo) must also be applauded as he comfortably sat into his character and convinced me that he truly doesn't care whether or not the dwarfs trusted him or ever will trust him to help them in their noble crusade to reclaim their kingdom… no, wait, to reclaim that big pile of gold that was the original downfall of their kingdom. That’s not how the book went either
