Fantastic job - well done.
Mickey Rourke does a wonderful job portraying Randy "The Ram", a man
trying to turn his life back to a time when he was successful, he was a good father to his little girl (Stephanie - played by Evan Rachel Wood), and thousands of fans screamed adorations.
Present day is much more bleak. His landlord has locked him out of his trailer, his daughter has been out of his life for years, his love life is nothing more than an occaisional lap dance on Friday night, and he's now wrestling on the weekends in school gymnasiums filled with more metal folding chairs than fans.
This movie focuses on how quickly time passes when you're screwing up. It's about life regrets and coming to the realization that it might be as good as it gets. So, yes that's depressing. Perhaps though it may be more depressing to keep thinking that things will get better and it never does. This movie also hits upon having one true passion and how for some, settling isn't an option.
