I have never seen either of these movies in their entirety. Only snippets here and there on TV. When it was to be featured on the big screen I opted to go see it as it was meant to be seen so long ago. On the big screen. I have to say that I enjoyed it far far more than if I was to watch it on the small screen. I was also initially so enthused about the two movies that I invited a friend to join my wife and I. Although this movie seemed to be another variation/version premise of The Running Man and Rollerball (1975 with Jame Caan) and some other forgettable survival game type movies, it was a bit more sophisticated with it's story and compassion. Oh and let's not forget love. I liked how it highlighted the strong willed yet compassionate and vulnerable woman and those who are thrust into her circle in the story. With the current introduction of the continuing cinematic stories and characters of Twilight and the Avengers this will be a welcome moving and exciting saga for film-goers if it continues in the same vein. Further, even though the doomed players of this futuristic tale are children between the ages of 12 and 18 their demise on the screen was edited to be visually swift and somewhat g-rated which I personally appreciated.
