Intriguing storyline on this, some interesting twists as well as cliches. One best to stay awake or you'll really get caught off guard in trying to figure out the puzzle presented. Incredible performances by Rooney Mara and Jude Law, so perhaps worth the admission price for that. Somewhat of a swipe at the pharmaceutical industry and a dive into folks with drug dependencies. That being said, not sure how I really feel about this one. It's definitely not a 'must go' but if you happen to be at the theater and not sure what to see, worth a viewing i guess. But if you miss this one at the theater, it's aok, as catching it on VOD or Cable will save you some bucks. ...(read more)

Ok I get it, Hollywood takes a classic fairy tale and wants to turn it into a action horror comedy thriller. Good concept, poor delivery. Really wanted to like this flick, but unfortunately, the film does not live up to the trailer. Nothing new here, lots of bone crushing and blood gushing fighting action scenes with heads getting chopped off except this time with Witches set in medieval times. Other than some nice eye candy on screen, very little chemistry at all between the leads and nothing that really draws you into the movie to make you want to give a damn about any of these characters. Jeremy Renner seems bored throughout and he wasn't the only one. Save yourself the $$ and catch this one on Cable or VOD or if you go, go with minimum expectations. ...(read more)

Peeped early matinee of MAMA today and the theatre was almost empty. That should've told be something right there. I'd give it a "C+' for the few creepy scenes and sfx. The acting by the two little kids and Jessica Chastain was spot on. The plot is pretty atypical and by showing the ghost of Mama so early on, it really ruins the rest of the film, imho. You then can pretty much tell what comes next. A few mild scares & suspense, not the jump out of your seat, I can't watch what's going to happen next! lol. So, if you scare at the sound of "Boo", or of a 'threatening dust ball always circling on the floor (hint hint)" then maybe this will do it for you. If not, go, but don't expect much and form your own opinion. Or save $$ and catch it on VOD/Cable. After seeing Pan's Labyrinth, expected more from director Guillermo del Toro. Wish they'd spent more time developing the script, MAMA had potential. Boo! ...(read more)
