Like Lord of the Rings the Hobbit provides a vehicle for one fight scene after another with limited character development and storyline. The fights scenes were so boring after a while that I actually fell asleep during the movie and then fidgeted for the remaining hour and a half waiting for it to be over. One would think that in 2 hours and 46 mins there could be something other than just sequential fight scenes. My 10 year old son loved it but then he's a fan of xbox combat games. The back story was way more interesting and the aunt and uncle had better and more interesting roles especially Martin Sheen. The end dragged on a little bit but overall a very exciting and enjoyable rendition of the story. ...(read more)
