This film is a fascinating portrait of a seriously driven man. For fans, it's a lovely peek into
the brilliant comedian/actor who inspires a rabid love and adoration that I suspect many other comedians do not enjoy. Eddie is a rock star among comedians, a position he revels in, although it sometimes seems that as much as he has worked desperately hard for it, it's one he can't let completely in to his heart. He's driven by the need for the love of his late mother, and although he has the love of millions of fans who travel long distances time and again, who quote him religiously, and who would do just about anything for him, he seems not to truly believe & accept that. Perhaps, having lost his mother so young, he's too afraid to accept love again for fear of losing it again. But for anyone who is curious about this comedy phenomenon, this film is a great way to become familiar with who he is and where he's come from. Wonderful early footage through his prep for the Sexie tour.
