My Fandango

Very disappointing. I don't know if they actors were TRYING to act like they couldn't act or what was going on but the dialogue just didn't flow right at all and the humor in parts just stretched too far. The visuals were stunning and even the story wasn't too bad but something was just off. I don't recommend this film. This movie was AWESOME! The acting was great. The story was of course, wonderful. The effects were incredible. Everything was just... perfect. I couldn't have hoped for anything better after reading the hobbit. I'm not sure what the professional critics were watching. Maybe they were expecting another LoTR's which this is not. It doesn't have the same feel as LoTR's but it has it's own unique appeal that draws you in and leaves you wondering what amazing thing is going to happen next. And for those that thought the beginning might be a bit slow, I thought it was quite charming. A 45 or so minute introduction is kind of needed when you have a story that's going to take nearly 9 hours to complete itself. Must see for Middle Earth fans! ...(read more)

I went into this movie thinking... eh, it'll probably be ok but I was definitely proven wrong. The concept was very interesting. The story kept you guessing the whole time. My friend didn't think there was enough action but I personally thought it was perfect. I'm sick of movies that are just pure gratuitous action with barely any plot to speak of. Those are nice occasionally, sitting back and not having to think at all but too many movies are like that anymore. This one is not. Great acting on all parts. Great beginning. I was very impressed with how well they portrayed the emotion in the beginning and leading up to the games. I was a bit disappointed though in the way they did the arena. The setting was perfect but it felt rushed. I went with someone who had not read the books and he was completely lost by the end because they didn't do a very good job of showing who was left. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but I'll just say at the end... he had no idea it was the end. But from a perspective of someone who read and loved the books, the story for the most part stayed true throughout and it was nice just experiencing the story again. ...(read more)
