WOW!! This movie was much, much better than I expected. The visuals and special effects were stunning, even in regular 2D. I took three pre-teen boys and they really had a blast, and I was actually thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. The storyline surrounding the main character was extraordinarily done, and the whole story had a really heartwarming conclusion. For anyone who has ever had questions about the meaning and the purpose of your life, this movie will definitely touch your heart. I HIGHLY recommend this film for any family with young children, or even young adults who are in need of a lighthearted holiday movie. I give "Rise of the Guardians" two thumbs WAY up!! ...(read more)

This movie - like every other summer blockbuster film of recent years - should definitely stroke the ego of every military vet in the cinema. This is 'Battle: Los Angeles", the Navy version. The acting by the main characters in this film is truly piss poor, with exception of a few who really shined. Rhianna really brought her A-Game, and did a phenomenal job, as well as another kid, who was really funny. But, there is one man, a disabled Naval Colonel, in this film who was the realest bad*** of the film. He absolutely STOLE this movie and his acting laid the SMACK DOWN on those pretty-boys from Hollywood!! The action scenes are breathtaking and definitely had my pulse throbbing. The plot is SUPER lame, copied and pasted from all the other gazillion "alien-invasion" movies out there. Some parts will have you thinking..."WTF?!?" Not at all as good as Avengers, which had a way better storyline and better acting, but if ur looking for MEGA SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER ACTION, go see it!! ...(read more)

I took my nephew to see this one this morning. Very family-friendly and good fun. Was really silly at times, but for the most part, had plenty of adult humor and the singing/performance pieces were really amazing. Overall, I was entertained and the youngster was too. I'd recommend this as a matinee movie-going experience - for prime time, though...you might want to look elsewhere. ...(read more)

Personally, i felt way over-stimulated when I walked out from this film. Picture this - take the original Transformers, inject it with a massive dose of Hollywood, jack it up with testosterone, and sprinkle in some typical college bone-head humor and there you go. The acting was way overdone in many of the scenes, and the story felt rushed and all over the place. 90% of the action was just a mish-mash of twisted metal, a huge overuse of explosions and WAY too much noise. This movie totally kept me on the edge of my seat, and my heart was pumping thru my shirt when the lights finally came back on. Not anywhere near as "good" as the first one, but if you're looking for 100% fortified jacked-to-the-max action...this is your movie. ;-) ...(read more)
