I just saw Resident Evil in 3D a little earlier today and I gotta say...I was impressed with the new characters from the video games, and with the bad*** chicks in the movie. However, the 3D is not necessary to enjoy the film because majority of the film is non-stop action scenes anyway. I liked the movie overall, but didn't love it for two reasons: Albert Wesker being somewhat of a protagonist and the big kaboom moment at the end. Let's cut to the chase: why is there a remake of something already done well? Answer: This one shows more from the comics than the director and writers' vision of the story. Although I do agree that Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy is very good, Marc Webb's version here is better due to two main reasons: This film captures more key elements from the original and Ultimate Spiderman comics, and the film is made in modern times with relatable characters to attract and gain approval from a broader audience. Almost any age group will enjoy this version of Spiderman. The only reason the film is getting a 'meh' attitude from some critics and fans is because of Sam Raimi's version before this one. The acting from all the main characters hits the comic book ones right on the head. There is a healthy combination of action, humor, drama, and romance all entwined nicely in this film. Overall, two thumbs up. I highly recommend seeing this film in 3D as an added bonus for heightened enjoyment. ...(read more)
