This version did not move me as the stage versions have and with all the work that obviously went into this film, I SHOULD have been moved. When you have a show that is basically an opera, I expect better singinfg... I know this singing was done "live" but so is opera and other musicals and this fell way short. The art , staging and costumes were spot on perfect and acting was superb BUT this was basically an opera and an opera with mediocre singing ( don't even get me STARTED on Russell Crowe) is not worth sitting through..I left after a full half of the movie because I was disppointed and bored. ...(read more)

This movie was OK...slow in the beginning, then got more cohesive as it went. The little child actor was pretty scary amazing...pretty good ending. Good enough not to be a wsate of your money. ...(read more)
This was a good not great Prequel to the Aliens franchise..lots of scary stuff but more psychological than in your face... I heard two teens walking out saying..."That wasn't very scary,I only jumped TWICE!!!"..well being a bit older thsn these boys and liking films without 12 gallons of blood spurting from everywhere.... I found I did not mind that statistic one bit. The critters and beings were great as were the other special effects. My only real complaint was withthe characters...mots of whom were weak and under developed. In particular, Charlize Theron's character Vickers... they never really developed her into the mean, rigid "Company Man" that I beleive they intended her to be...she ended up ( even with a hand at a flame-thrower) being a shadow of what the previous nasty, sneaky "Company Men" were ...the android was more passionate then she was. BUT all in all, a good sci fi drama, passable story line , great effects, not so good characters.....! ...(read more)
