    A Christmas Carol

Great to see Disney producing this fairly straightforward interpretation of Dickens' classic, without the pretentious and unsubtantiated social and pseudo-science commentaries that one has found in much that it has released on dangers of capitalism, 'global-warming' , 'green' issues and prattle et al.

Heck, they did not even adonish Bob Cratchit for wanting to burn more coal, admonish Scrooge for having some money he could give to charity, or making it necessary for passing 'healthcare' to cure Tiny Tim....

Thank you for this once merely giving us the message, without the help of the STATE:

    "GOD BLESS US EVERYONE !"

And may we as INDIVIDUALS take it from there.

Enjoyed A Christmas Carol but it is NOT a movie for kids of all ages.

Jim C does a good job as Scrooge and the three ghosts. The first ghost displays his well known antics and goes just a tad bit too far IMHO. This is definitely "darker" than any other version of this story that I have watched or any other Disney movie for that matter. Although I watched the regular version of the movie and not the 3D version, the special effects were very cool. If your young child likes watching ghosts and freaky, scary stuff, he/she should be able to watch this movie without a problem. I feel that this movie may be better suited for kids aged 10 and up if not 13 and up. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

love the story...didn't love the movie

    by lilybeth

First of all, I love the story and I was looking forward to sharing this version with my 9 year old and getting into the holiday spirit. I don't know how they managed it, but they actually made it boring... I found my self yawning and getting sleepy! I am not opposed to things being added to a story if it enriches the original...but some of what they added was just weird and completely unecessary. The ghosts of xmas past and present were so distracting in their demeanor (past seemed stoned...and present maybe needed a little of what the ghost of xmas past had to calm him down...!) so that you couldn't really enjoy the experience of what each ghost had to share with scrooge. Anyway, there were a few good moments, mostly towards the end. If I could do it again, I'd wait for the video. :(
