I went to this movie on Christmas Day with my son-in-law and two grandsons (17 y.o.). I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story and the tradition that it shared. There was a good balance or fantasy and reality. I was also pleased that this film did not let Keanu Reeves' character steal the stage. "Honor" as never seen before.

It was a good movie but I found my self yawning in the middle. The fight scenes were well done. I also enjoyed the makeup effects and special effects. If you have extra cash.. a good movie to go see other wise wait for video.

THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST ABSOLUTE WORST FILM I'VE EVER SEEN - THEY SHOULD PAY PEOPLE TO GO & WATCH THIS CRAP - KEANU REEVES PERFORMANCE WAS HORRIBLE - HE SHOULD GIVE UP ACTING AS A CAREER & MAYBE HE'LL GET LUCKY & QUALIFY FOR THE OBAMA PHONE & HEALTH CARE - DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED $$$ ON THIS SUCK BOTTOM FILM

We thoroughly enjoyed this fairy tale rendition of the 47 samurai/ronin, Chushingura. Keanu Reeves did a bang up job and so did Hiroyuki Sanada. The japanese cast was excellent and the Witch was predominantly good. The staging and scenery was wonderful. Costuming was beautiful. It requires the audience to accept all the various cultural behaviors, places, characterizations to make it work. It's a fairy tale that makes the true story of Chushingura palatable for the West. This movie isn't for smaller children.

I hope more people go see this. It is an excellent story, great imagery, amazing fight scenes, and beautiful soundtrack. As a movie goes, I learned a lot from the story, things I didn't know about before, related to the Ronin story.
Go see! You won't be disappointed!
