As far as movie plots go, there was nothing new about this one. As I was watching I couldn't help but to think of Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai. I 'm not to heavy on the Hollywood type (white leading man/woman) being the savior or manufactured to be the main character of a movie about another culture or race. It takes away from the authenticity of the story, for me. All that aside I enjoyed the action and the visual effects. This movie is good for a mindless escape and served to be a great opener for an all day movie marathon.

This movie could have gone either way, but I like some of the actors in it and was optimistic that it would be good. it was. The special effects weren't overdone - just right. Plenty of action and a great story.

It was a little frightening to see how quickly a person could lose his/her head for something we live with everyday -- and it is accepted as simply a part of our culture. On the other hand watching a person die with pride so that honor and integrity might be maintained above all else was quite inspiring.
Some of the Japanese acting was weak, IMP; with that said, others were quite outstanding in their roles.

Not the fastest pace, but that should be expected when one watches films based on this style of film making. The action scenes were great. The special effects were great. I'm a fan of this genre, so for me, it was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I thought the movie could have been better!! The story line tended to drift. At times the movie was filled with moments of emptiness to drag it on. I was looking for more romance, action and a much better script.
