Critics Got This One Wrong-No Folly Here!

Thank goodness I don't believe everything I hear or read. If I did I would have missed out on one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Keanu does a superb job as Kai and if you have ever been discriminated against you will be able to completely relate thus making the movie all the more meaningful. Also loved the fact that I could take my kids with me to this movie without worrying about inappropriate aspects. If you liked "The Last Airbender" you will definitely love this movie. In my opinion, I think a lot of the bad reviews from the critics stems from the very fact that they like in the movie, are discriminatory and would have rather seen an actor of Asian descent in the role of Kai rather then "Keanu Reeves" who is of Hawaiian and Caucasian descent and not Japanese. Word of advice don't listen to the bias opinions of the bigot critics. Go see the movie and judge for yourself!

Not bad for a round eye ninja named Keanu

I saw this is a dumpy, old-school theatre complete with uncomfortable chairs and a small tear in the screen. That being said, I have no idea how great the graphics/effects may have been. It was a little slow going at first but the story was well played and Keanu was, well, pretty much the same Keanu you know from the 80's. The fight scenes were legit, and there was even an asian girl who was able to use chopsticks with her hair! The ending seemed a little strange but it didn't ruin the rest of the movie. If you are thinking this is going to be like Kill-BIll, look out because this is anything but. Not the worst movie you can see but certainly not the greatest

I loved this film, even though the story was a bit weak and Keanu was still a bit stiff after all these years of acting he still seems robotic. The other actors and the beautiful Japanese back drop and culture made this film great. The effects were dazzling and the witch made being bad seem fun. A definite must go

Good story - twist on real events

If you like action and a good story line focused on strong values, this is a good one. The special effects were excellent. It appeared that the Shogun culture was accurately portrayed with a bit of mythology, very much in the vain of the classics. Thoroughly - enjoyed it.

47 Ronin is full of action and adventure, but there is little background or character development. Even Reeves' character isn't explained until close to the end of the movie. The director has made little effort to flesh out the motivations and needs of his characters, probably because the story is legend and involves magical events. Regardless, one feels for the suffering of the main characters and understands the ties between the two lovers. The acting is superb. The theme of honor and discipline before self is admirably common in Japanese society, and is familiar to many in the American military. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the history, the scenery, the characters and their predicaments. The movie glorifies the concepts of self-discipline and strong character and I loved the beauty of the landscapes. I recommend it.
