The movie starts slow, but quickly picks up and keeps the pace

This movie is based on true events in the life of Jackie Robinson and the storytelling is great. The movie keeps you engaged, entertained and touches upon the civil rights issues brewing at the time. Unlike other movies (ie the Butler), it doesn't get lost in the details of the civil rights movement and doesn't become a long drawn history lesson, it stays on point, namely #42. I recommend this movie for the whole family.

As a huge baseball fan, who has read several Jackie Robinson biographies over the course of my life, I rate it as an A-. Purely as a movie, I rate it a B+. It is well done, but not special or epic. An important chunk of history well handled, but not something that will stick with me--but then again, I have known his story since I was a 9-10 year old kid reading bios of Dodgers, Giants, and Yankees from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. . . . . Now if the Mariners did not suck for once, that would be epic. Jim M. (51 years old) Portland, OR

If you are a Harrison Ford fan this is him at his finest. This movie got all the emotions flowing. I laughed, cried, and wanted to stand up and clap like we did when I was a kid and shows ended up in an absolute positive way.....and it was true.

Perfect movie from top to bottom. It was really hard not to cry through this movie being a young African American woman. Very thankful for this movie and Jackie Robinson.

Great movie about a real American hero who rose to great levels in the face of tremendous adversity. Harrison Ford gives an Oscar worthy performance as Branch Rickey.
