    Original buzz:

Not as epic as I thought

    by redyeah

When I heard everybody raving about this, I thought this would be one of the tops of all time. It was alright. The effects were not all they were hyped over. Storyline-more or less decent, but not great. Glad I waited till it was on basic cable.

    "300" Amazing & Epic...

    by Javajive

Now this is a great Epic movie "300" and yes it was very aggressive & brutle with powerful storyline for survival: Actor Gereld Butler acted his buns off/some very "serious" acting in this movie. Great Cast & it should of won an Oscar for visual Effects and Screenplay. I like to see GERELD BUTLER do more Historical Drama/Epic films. As for the movie "Gamer" itwas pretty okay due to some of the special hi-techs in the movie & Mr. Butler awesome action scenes but the storyline "suffered" too much. Check out "300" & "Phantom of the Opera" instead for those are some really high quality Gereld Butler spectacular movies, all the way!!!

    Great Battle, Horrible Blunder

    by mommaofthemew

I am a serious history buff, and must say that I was seriously let down.
Promised as a historical retelling of a major battle, I found more false hope than anything,
They labled the Persians as evil and horrible people, and made Xerxes look like a ******* Hannibal.
To me, it's like they were going for the same effect that TROY had on it's followers, and added in some XBox quality shots. Seriously, it's not even worth spending the money at the video store. I wish I would have waited for it's world premier on TV!!!

It's OK via the SOCRATIC METHOD

A reviewer from an older person is going to be more critical. WHY? because as you get older you have more in your head to make better judgments and comparisons..you know what's good and what's crap...and also you tend not to buy into false historical crap!
Ok..so here is the famous battle in military history....
I am going to use the socratic method..since Socrates lived closer to this period.

Why does it look like I'm watching a video game?
Why does Xerxes look like Yul Brenner in The King and I? Not very Persian is it?
Where in history did these mutant characters come from?
Why does the dialogue appear to be written for 14 year olds?
Why is the acting so generalized. I don't ever get to know these characters enough to care?
Why are some battle shots reminding me of The Matrix?
Why would the director want to copy styles from another movies..so my mind is taken from the current train of thought (current movie) to be thinking about another movie?
