Empty Room was one of the few 60-minute episodes of TV's 20th Century Fox Hour that was not based on a previously filmed Fox theatrical feature. Based on a book by Charles Morgan, the drama stars Audrey Dalton as a young Englishwoman and Jeffrey Hunter as her American husband. When Audrey's divorced mother (Sylvia Sidney) comes to visit, the girl's natural warning system begins buzzing. Audrey endeavors to keep her scheming mother from being reunited with her father (Patrick Knowles), who has been perfectly happy since the split.
