This movie is so good on so many levels that I went back to see it again the next day, so I could share it with my wife. Every music fan should see it. It is this year's Searching For Sugarman.

This is a must see film for anyone who has loved rock n roll throughout their lives. A joyous testament to the power of voice and the back up women singers who have given us the soundtrack of generations.

If you're the type of person who reads Album/CD liner notes to see who the background singers are, as I am, then you will want to see '20 Feet From Stardom'. Some of my all-time favorites get to tell their stories: Lisa Fischer, Merry Clayton, Tata Vega, The Waters Family, Darlene Love. I was surprised Cissy Houston wasn't included but don't fault the film for the omission. Some very interesting musical history is revealed in the film as well. And, of course, there's great music.

Wasn't sure what I was going to see upon purchasing a ticket for this movie but I was pleasantly surprised!! Riveting look at the best of the back-up singers of the last 30 or so years. I think this will be one of the documentaries nominated for the Academy Awards.

As documentary subjects go, it’s the rare one that actually entertains AND enlightens you. This can be said for this feature length exploration of the roles of several prominent backing vocalists from contemporary music history. If you enjoyed the music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, you’ll really enjoy this feature. See it. You won’t be disappointed.
