I saw this right after finishing the book, and was pleased to see that they stayed true to it. Obviously there were scenes which had to be condensed or removed, but they were done without altering the story or the message Mr Northrop intended in his memoir. He would be proud.

I truly liked the movie. What folks failed to realize is those types of things and conditions existed when slavery was legal. Though I would recommend the picture to those 16 years of age and older. The acting, directing, cinematogrpahy and writing for the screen play was excellent. Great job depicting the realities of slavery. What kind of ratings are these: Oh No, No, So-so, go, must go? All of these appear to be negative ratings so where is the positve ones. I selected what I thought but this is really crazy. I bet you won't publish this review!

While some of the scenes in this movie weren't the easiest to watch, the story is a very important one. It is incredibly well written. I cannot give this movie enough praise. I recommend it to everyone. It's sad to know that this was based on a true story and that one human could treat another in that manner.

This movie was more disturbing than Roots. I think it is the sound system, acting and
visual effects that we have today that made it so real. I cried throughout the movie and still have a sad feeling inside my heart.. All of the characters played amazing parts and as in real life, Brad Pitts lived up to his real life character.
